About MOTIF Jewelers

The story behind our company starts with four brothers working out of one house in Oak Park, Michigan. The four brothers did trade work for major retailers in the metro-Detroit area; including Hudson’s, Combine International, and Schiffer Jewelry. Eventually the business grew and the four brothers expanded into a larger location in Southfield, Michigan. They called the company Flash Manufacturing. Over the years, the company grew into an exceedingly competitive manufacturer. In the early 1980’s, they opened their retail location also in Southfield. Doing business for many years in the metro-Detroit area, the brothers soon looked for new ventures and eventually found one in the late 80’s. They purchased the existing MOTIF name and much of the equipment from the original downtown location. Many years after, one of the brothers, Jeweler and Designer Toros Chopjian decided to expand to a mall location. So in 1996, Motif Diamond Design, Inc. was officially open for business in Livonia Mall. In 1998, Toros decided to leave the Livonia Mall location and move the store to Southland Mall in Taylor, Michigan; where it currently resides.

Motif Jewelers has established a reputation by offering fashionable, luxurious, and custom designed heirlooms; while providing a level of quality, service, and integrity that exceeds customers’ expectations. Motif offers an array of services; including jewelry repair, custom designing, watch repairs, engravings and appraisals. We also provide trade work among the jewelry community; extending our watchmaking, engraving, and jewelry repair services to retailers across the state of Michigan. Motif Jewelers has been independently owned and operated for the last fourteen years by the Chopjian family; Toros Chopjian, Designer and Jeweler; Arakel Chopjian, GIA Diamond and Colored Stone Graduate and currently seeking his GG; Jaclyn Chopjian, apprentice of Toros Chopjian. Motif currently employs seven staff members of various backgrounds and education. Consistent product and sales training amounts to MOTIF’s extraordinary and knowledgeable staff of fine jewelry advisors.
